Websites for Commerce and Industry
Some businesses have a simple brochure site, but others use their website to extend their physical shop or mail order catalogue. Some have sprung up as online-only shops. For the more complex shops, we have sometimes preferred the Shopify platform over WordPress.

Field & Moor: quality gentlemen's outdoor footwear
James Waddell has bravely launched an online-only business in the middle of the pandemic: British-designed, high-quality outdoor leather boots aimed at the top end of the market.
The website uses a Shopify theme modified to suit the brand. Adding products and their size variations is easy, and apps extend the native functionality to include marketing, currencty converter and a Back in Stock option.
Naked Foods — fruit preparations for the food industry
“Quirky but professional” was the brief for this redesign of an old website that needed updating.
Sliding pictures of delicious looking foods adorn the home page while the inner pages are decorated with fun and colourful header images. All this is allied with the powerful functionality of WordPress and makes for a triumphant bespoke result.
Whites of Kent: clothing, lingerie and linens for the home
Whites of Kent is a third-generation family-run business with shops serving four towns in East Kent: Faversham, Whitstable, Cliftonville and Dover.
Their website extends the shopping experience into the online space so that customers can purchase from the comfort of armchair.
This is Applegreen's first foray into the Shopify platform, which we have found easy for shop owners to learn with support from us. The design relies on a Shopify theme and is therefore not bespoke, but it is clean and modern.
Molash Turkeys: fresh Christmas turkeys reared in the heart of Kent
White and Bronze Christmas turkeys are offered for sale at the farm gate, to customers who prize local fare at this traditional time of year.
On the website, customers can choose whether to reserve their Christmas bird and pay at the farm gate, or pay straight away online. The website automates the confirmation to the customer as well as the emailing of the order to the farmer.
Rosie's Garden Plants — plants by mail order
Jacqueline Aviolet, aka Rosie's Garden Plants, has sold perennials, shrubs, hardy gernaniums and roses by mail order for many years. This website has enabled to take her catalogue online.
Plants are purchased by contacting Jacqueline direct, rather than through the website. She also gives lively talks on plant-related topics including remotely via Zoom.
