Websites for Churches and Charities
Applegreen Websites is the ideal company to create websites for churches and small charities. These sites are often managed by a team of people using separate logins, and some may need password-protected areas.
Some publish many blog posts and need to manage comments from the public. Others make frequent updates for events and service times.

Walk Church — celebrating God Outdoors
Walk Church is a new initiative aimed at people who want to express their Christian faith ouside the usual church buildings. Here, they are offered worship in the context of a two-hour walk.
The website gives news about latest and forthcoming walks, theological background and discussion of other walking projects. All enlivened by superb photography.
Green Christian — for environmentally concerned Christians
This was a redisign for a busy website run by a small but feisty charity. It was already a lively hub for news, resources, events and comments.
Our job was to create an engaging appearance, integrate design elements that were already being used by their print platforms, and retain existing functionality. We later added extra templates and a password-protected members-only page.
Cancer Watch — fighting preventable cancers
The mission for Cancer Watch is to raise awareness about preventable cancers, caused by smoking, alcohol abuse or the overeating of damaging foods.
Cancer Watch campaigns to improve legislation and encourage creative thinking to reduce cancer incidence in the UK.
Passiflora Society International
Passionflower growing is a pursuit with a global reach, and enthusiasts are creating new cultivars all the time. Here they can join as members of the society to share their creations and buy unusual seeds.
The website, which came to us with many problems and bugs, was rescued by our colleagues at Waveney IT. We refreshed with a crisp new design and it was ready to go.
Bromham Benefice of Anglican churches, Bedfordshire
The Anglican benefice of Bromham groups together the churches of the three Bedfordshire parishes of Bromham, Oakley and Stagsden.
The three churches share one vicar and parish administrator who manage the website in a unified manner for weddings and other special services, though each church has its own page. Service times are updated each week including, when appropriate, the Zoom links.
The Methodist Circuit of Hackney and Stoke Newington, London
The Hackney Methodist Circuit comprises six churches across this intensely urban part of London.
The website has a page for each church showing its location, service times, hire facilities and activities. It also has a unified calendar across the circuit along with preaching plans and newsletters.
The Nyika Vwaza Trust — environmental and wildlife conservation in Malawi
NVT supports conservation and environmental education in two reserves in northern Malawi: Nyika National Park and the Vwaza Marsh.
Our redesign has made their website mobile-responsive (and therefore accessible in Africa), user-friendly and attractive, with spectacular photos on every page.
There is plenty of information on each reserve, its fauna and flora and on the research supported by the charity and updatable image galleries.
Biddenden Village Halls — two halls for hire with full facilities
Biddenden Village Halls offer space for hire for functions such as weddings and birthday parties, as well as regular meetings and toddler clubs. The hire includes fully equipped kitchen, toilets, tables and chairs.
The website has beautiful photos taken by David CL and a floor plan. It contains all the information needed to choose a hall and contact the caretaker to arrange the hire. The website also has a password-protected area for the use of management committee.
Stone-in-Oxney Church and village website
A church website with a difference, this one gives essential information about St Mary the Virgin, the Anglican church of Stone-in-Oxney in Kent including contact and service details, news and history.
But the village is small and in an imaginative touch, the website's originator Paul Vercruyssen decided to include details of all the village societies as well, making it a real community asset.
Anglican benefice of Biddenden and Smarden Churches
This website provides service times for two busy churches, along with notices and events. It is the first port of call for visitors and new members as well as for people arranging a wedding, baptism or funeral, saving clergy much valuable time in explaining procedures.
The website can be updated by the clergy or parish administrator' by logging into a WordPress interface that is no more complicated to use than most wordprocessors.
